Property Specialists, Inc. (PSI) in Leawood, KS was formed in May of 1991 by Steven M. Perry and John W. Ballard, III.Since its inception, our property company has been engaged in commercial real estate brokerage, mortgage banking, and real estate investment banking. We also provide consulting services to real estate owners and operators.
Our affiliation with KC Venture Group, L.L.C., allows us to assist in the acquisition, sale, financing, and refinancing of numerous multifamily properties utilizing tax-exempt private revenue bond financing. At present, we have been involved in over $1 billion acquisition, sales, and financing transactions.
In addition to traditional acquisition, sales, and financing activities, our company has represented high-net-worth individuals and institutional investors, including real estate investment trusts, who have purchased real estate owned, non-performing, and performing loans from governmental agencies, financial institutions, and other sources. We have also served as financial advisor to these investors in connection with the financing, refinancing, and restructuring of the debt related to commercial real estate assets. PSI maintains relationships with numerous financial institutions, investment banking firms, and legal counsel that are actively involved in real estate and public finance.
PSI has acted as an acquisition and selling agent on behalf of investors and owners with respect to more than 65 hospitality properties consisting of approximately 10,000 rooms throughout the United States. Our clients consist of private investors as well as several hotel real estate investment trusts. Properties acquired or sold on behalf of these clients include virtually all segments of the hospitality market, including budget, limited service, extended-stay, full-service properties, and development sites. The combined acquisition and sales prices of these properties is in excess of $275 million. Our company also provides mortgage banking and financial consulting services to its hospitality clients. We have arranged approximately $80 million financing for hospitality properties throughout the United States. Financing sources procured by PSI have included both traditional and non-traditional lenders.
In partnership with KCVG/Hunt Opportunity Fund, we have placed over $12 million in private equity for the acquisition, refinancing, and recapitalization of numerous commercial real estate projects. Our projects also include multifamily properties, land development, as well as retail and self-storage facilities. These transactions typically were structured as joint venture equity investments, preferred equity investments, or other forms of hybrid debt or equity financing.
