John W. Ballard III

John W. Ballard, III, Vice President, was Senior Executive Vice President and a Director of Home Savings Association of Kansas City, F.A., a savings and loan association with approximately $3 billion in assets, from October, 1988 to March, 1991. Mr. Ballard was responsible for the sale, asset management and leasing of all commercial real estate owned properties, as well as joint venture and service corporation commercial investments. Mr. Ballard was also involved in the workout and foreclosure of troubled commercial real estate loans. During his tenure with Home Savings, Mr. Ballard was involved in the sale and/or restructuring of over $120 million of commercial real estate owned.

Prior to the merger of Safety Federal Savings and Loan Association of Kansas City into Home Savings Association in 1988, Mr. Ballard served as Executive Vice President of Operations and as a Director of Safety Federal Savings, a $450 million savings and loan association. Mr. Ballard commenced his career in the thrift industry in 1973 with Safety Federal and was responsible for all thrift operations, including single family and commercial construction and permanent real estate lending.

Mr. Ballard is a past Director of the Kansas City Savings and Loan League and a past Board Member of the Kansas City Mortgage Bankers Association. Mr. Ballard is a licensed real estate broker and insurance agent in the State of Kansas and a licensed real estate broker in Missouri. Mr. Ballard had held numerous official positions with the Central Division of the Kansas City Real Estate Board and was elected affiliate of the year of the Greater Kansas City Real Estate board in 1983. Mr. Ballard has also acted as a fee based appraiser and has completed several American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers courses toward his MAI designation. Mr. Ballard received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Kansas in 1973.

Mr. Ballard has served on numerous non profit boards in the Kansas City Area over the last 40 year.  In 1989 he was awarded the Cystic Fibrosis Pathfinder of the year  award  for the Kansas City Metropolitan Area in recognition of his outstanding fund raising accomplishments for the organization.  He served as a member of the board of Trustees of St Paul School Of Theology for over 21 years and received the Presidents award for outstanding service in October of 2014.  On July 26, 2016 Mr Ballard was elected as a lifetime member of the board of Trustees of St Paul School of Theology in recognition of his outstanding service to the seminary over his 21 year tenure with specific notation for service as head of the finance, audit and investment committees.    Mr. Ballard currently serves as a member  of the National Board of Directors of the University of Kansas  Alumni Association and currently serves on it executive committee.  In January 2016, Mr Ballard completed a 6 year (maximum) tenure as  a member of the board of directors of  Mission Hills Country Club in Mission Hills, Kansas.
